Our equipment is now permanently showcased in Tampere HealthHUB. Fully functional and full size demonstration is intended to present our rehabilitation concept to potential customers in Tampere and Pirkanmaa area.

At the end of year 2017 we got good news from the European Commission. Physilect Oy was selected among seven other Finnish companies to receive EC’s Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase 1 funding. Funded companies represent different industries, and Physilect is the only health tech company in this batch. Horizon 2020 SME Instrument is intended for commercialization of disruptive innovations and thus very much wanted among European SME’s. The competition for grants is extremely hard and requires passing through very tight evaluation procedure. Only 193 companies out of 2.600 applications were funded at November cut-off. Bachelor’s Thesis titled “Physical training with the Physilect rehabilitation program and training motivation for the older adults” was published at Faculty of Health Care and Social Services of Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. The study was done by Julija Chichaeva and supevised by Dr. Kari Kauranen. As said in Abstract, results of the study show that Physilect rehabilitation program is a promising tool for physiotherapists and physiotherapy clients. The solution offers an option for elderly to increase their physical condition and raise and maintain training motivation.

The remote and virtual rehabilitation technology developed by Physilect Oy is featured in the chapter titled Fysioterapian tulevaisuus (Future of Physiotherapy) of “Fysioterapeutin käsikirja” (Physiotherapist’s handbook) by Kari Kauranen. The book intended for students and rehabilitation professionals was published by Sanoma. Assistant professor Dr. Kari Kauranen works as Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Health Care and Social Services of Saimaa University of Applied Sciences in Lappeenranta.

Physilect’s team got a strong boost as Tapio Jakobsson joined the company. Tapio has ten years of business expertise of leading various healthtech related projects in different organizations. His last job was at City of Vantaa, where he managed a massive healthcare IT change project. Tapio is also a visiting lecturer in wellbeing technology for Tampere University of Applied Sciences.

We have started the pilot project with Vetrea Terveys Oy, the leading provider of rehabilitation and elderly care services in Eastern Finland. The pilot aims at validating the applicability of Physilect for the rehabilitation of seniors.

Physilect Ltd. and Saimia University of Applied Sciences have agreed upon two diploma works related to Physilect rehabilitation equipment. One work will be mostly focused on the user experience both among physiotherapists and patients, while the other one will study Physilect Balance in compare to conventional methods/equipment used for the balance testing. Both works will be conducted in cooperation with and in premises of Lappeenrannan Kuntoutus Ltd., which belongs to Fysios chain.

The procurement unit of Tampere University Hospital has issued the permission to pilot Physilect at the Neurological rehabilitation department. The aim of the pilot is to validate the applicability of Physilect for post-stroke rehabilitation via clinical trials. The pilot project will be conducted during 2017.
